- The Institute of Paralegals is the leading professional body for paralegals in England & Wales.
- In 2009, it launched Route to Qualification for paralegals leading to Qualified Paralegal Status, and the BTEC Foundation Diploma and the UWE Specialist Paralegal Qualification are recognised by the Institute as part of its Route to Qualification.
- Anyone who enrols on a diploma or specialist course will receive one years’ free IoP membership at affiliate level.
- Completion of the diploma will entitle paralegals to become Associate members of the IoP, the diploma plus further experience will enable a paralegal to become a Certified Paralegal.
- Certified Paralegal status is also available to those who have completed a law degree or LPC.
- Qualified Paralegal status can be achieved with the completion of the Specialist Qualification and 4 years’ practical experience.
